Why Patients Need You

Portfolio Managers within GPD Portfolio & Project Management contribute to improving the performance of Pfizer's medicine development efforts through operational planning, medicine development portfolio reporting, and portfolio data analytics initiatives across Pfizer's medicine development categories.

This position can be based in New York City, Groton Connecticut, Cambridge Massachusetts, or Collegeville Pennsylvania.

What You Will Achieve

You will play a key role in supporting decisions across our medicine development portfolio by ensuring stakeholders across Pfizer have access to the data and analytics they need, while becoming a subject matter expert in Pfizer development processes and applications for managing critical portfolio information.

How You Will Achieve It

The Portfolio Manager will drive the efficient and accessible flow of information and insights on Pfizer's medicine development pipeline to support the management of portfolio decisions. You have strong knowledge of the medicine development process built through several years of experience working in the field, along with key digital competencies and a passion for working with data.

Responsibilities include...

Portfolio Resource Management
  • Support the annual Operating Plan process for Pfizer's medicine development pipeline, including the portfolio prioritization process to support optimal investment decisions
  • Working with cross-functional partners in Finance and Medicinal Sciences, lead the development and enhancement of portfolio data platforms to manage forecasts for buy-up proposals
  • Provide expert guidance to Project Managers and Planners regarding the development of direct and indirect resource needs and compile forecasts
  • Integrate forecasts from project planning systems (e.g. RAPID) for Life Cycle and Stage-Gate buy-up opportunities into data management platforms to enable transparent cross-functional alignment in support of prioritization decisions
  • Understand asset/project resource projections and utilization, and identify opportunities for improvement


Portfolio Strategy & Reporting
  • Leverage portfolio data and insights to drive alignment across the greater Pfizer enterprise on category portfolio strategy and priorities
  • Compile, analyze and publish portfolio insights not available in automated reporting tools
  • Create high-quality materials and deliverables for bespoke PPM, GPD, and Category leadership initiatives
  • Compile, analyze, and publish portfolio insights to detail GPD's performance in delivering the portfolio
  • Produce ad hoc reports in response to information queries
  • Generate visually polished reports & presentations for senior audiences in support of business planning processes
  • Work across functional teams across Pfizer to integrate the right data at the right time in the right presentation in response to business problems, operational decisions and opportunities.


Portfolio/Business Process Development, Implementation and Optimization
  • Develop portfolio tools, processes and reports to assist PMs, Planners, Asset TLs and other partners in managing programs and portfolios
  • Identify, recommend and implement business process improvement opportunities to ensure optimal portfolio management within Pfizer's medicine development Categories
  • Build relationships and partner with business stakeholders to continue to enhance and streamline portfolio processes; including working with Digital platform owners and support services team, and ensures aligned effort, integrated and optimized connectivity of data


Metrics Platform / Capability Support
  • Evolve our metrics capabilities to comprehensively assess and communicate GPD's performance over time through standard analytical deliverables.
  • Develop platform capabilities for metrics collection & display; broaden the utilization of these data by stakeholders.
  • Advance the steady-state operation of our performance measures, providing timely availability of accurate data



Qualifications

Must-Have
  • BA/BS degree required (data science or a related technical field preferred), 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or in a strategy / management consulting firm that provided services to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Technical experience and strong knowledge of the drug development process.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; able to independently create polished analyses and communication materials for senior leaders
  • Able to work and collaborate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Is naturally curious, seeks quality information and provides analyses and recommendations supported by facts.
  • Contributes to a learning environment by sharing. knowledge and best practices within and across the organization.
  • Skilled in data management and data visualization techniques and applications.
  • Expertise in analytics, particularly technical data curation and manipulation skills.
  • Able to effectively visualize patterns to identify key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the manipulation of large data sets, integration of data across multiple sources and data structuring to facilitate analyses.
  • Candidate should have strong technical skills including
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Excel / PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one data visualization tool (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau) (2-3 years of experience with TIBCO Spotfire)
  • Programming/Scripting Languages (SQL, Java Script, R, Python, etc...)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA, or Masters' level degree in statistics or Data Science).
  • Data Management tools (Dataiku, Alteryx)
