Why Patients Need You

Pfizer's purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. Research and Development is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer's purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies and vaccines that matter most. Whether you are in the discovery sciences, ensuring drug safety and efficacy or supporting clinical trials, you will apply cutting edge design and process development capabilities to accelerate and bring the best in class medicines to patients around the world.

What You Will Achieve

This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Analytical Development group. You will independently develop robust analytical assays and execute assay qualification and transfer studies in support of early vaccine development for a range of adjuvants. Assays include standard analytical separations (HPLC, CE, etc.) and spectroscopic techniques (UV, DLS). In addition, you will be expected to provide analytical support for development of new adjuvants and analysis of animal study materials by performing routine and non-routine sample testing.

You will be using your scientific judgment to develop and adapt methods and techniques by applying prior work experience. It is your innovative scientific temperament that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.

How You Will Achieve It

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify key quality attributes for new adjuvant candidates such as liposomes and lipid nanoparticles and contribute to the selection of analytical methodology and techniques to be used.
  • Provide lab-based assay development support. You should be familiar with the ICH guidelines for method qualification and would be expected to design, plan, and execute assay development, qualification and transfer studies with a high degree of independence.
  • Establish and utilize new technologies, where required, to enhance our characterization toolbox and understanding about the adjuvants being developed.
  • You will perform routine and non-routine sample analysis support for adjuvant development, animal studies and final vaccine candidates.
  • Plan and prioritize own assay development and analysis activities to ensure timelines are met.
  • Author and review laboratory methods and reports.
  • You are expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste).

Qualifications

Must-Have
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology experience or an MS plus 7 years of related work experience is required.
  • A strong background in separation-based analytical techniques and method qualification following ICH guidelines is essential. Experience with applying these methodologies to liposomal and LNP adjuvants is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency and ability to utilize analytical techniques such as HPLC separation methods, CE, DLS and UV-Vis to develop methods to characterize potential adjuvant candidates. Experience with SEC-MALS and MS is a plus.
  • Experience in adjuvant analytical assay development, and a background in liposomes and lipid nano particles is considered as a major plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication as well as excellent documentation skills are required.
  • Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.
