The New Center for Virus-Host-Innate Immunity (CVHII) at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), Newark, is seeking to recruit tenure-track faculty at an academic rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with an MD, PhD, DVM or equivalent degree. The preferred areas of Virology research include: i) basic and molecular virology, ii) Virus-host interactions and iii) Molecular mechanisms of innate immunity in the context of Virus infection. The successful candidate should be highly productive with an established record of extramural funding or the potential to establish robust research programs in one or more of the above areas. The successful applicant should be open to take part in collaborative studies with other investigators studying the pathogenesis of infectious diseases and Immunology, and to teach and mentor graduate students. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience; excellent benefits and highly competitive startup packages are offered.
The CVHII is part of the Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases (I3D),and has close interactions with the Center for Immunity and Inflammation (CII). The scientific environment is excellent and provides opportunities to interact with leading scientists studying diverse areas of innate immunity and infectious diseases at Rutgers. The Newark location provides excellent opportunities to explore the New York city metropolitan area.
Rutgers has highly interactive research centers, and has available a regional biocontainment level 3 laboratory with excellent infrastructure to conduct BSL3 and ABSL3 studies.
