Summary
A Research Assistant II position is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children’s Cancer Center. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team of laboratory and clinical investigators developing novel forms of cancer immunotherapy. The position will be responsible for maintaining mouse colonies, generating tumor models, and testing the therapeutic activity of experimental immunotherapies. We offer outstanding state-of-the-art, recently expanded laboratory facilities and a highly interactive work environment.

The position will be responsible for maintaining mouse colonies, generating tumor models, and testing the therapeutic activity of experimental immunotherapies. Job Duties
- Maintains mouse colonies.
- Generates tumor models in mice according to the established SOPs and IACUC-approved protocols.
- Administers drugs and cells to mice, in particular using the intravenous route.
- Performs daily examinations of mice according to the established SOPs and IACUC-approved protocols.
- Recognizes signs of pain and distress in animals and ensures proper treatment or euthanasia of sick animals.
- Collects cells and tissues from animals and works with other researchers to perform downstream analyses including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescent microscopy, and flow cytometry.
- Documents results of experiments and reports to principle investigators.
- Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
- Defines problems and possible solutions.
- Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
- Three years of hands-on experience working with mice; proficiency with intravenous injections.
