Position Description

 

We are currently recruiting for an Air Quality Instrument Technician to install, operate and maintain air monitoring instruments, such as analyzers, samplers, recording instruments, and calibrators; assess the data recorded by their instruments to ensure completeness, validity, and compliance with regulatory guidelines; and coordinate the maintenance of their monitoring stations.

Upon completing two years of service, employees are eligible to promote to Air Quality Instrument Technician II, where they perform advanced calibrations and maintenance independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understanding principles of electronics and their application in instrument maintenance.
  • Familiarity with physics and chemistry concepts.
  • Strong record-keeping and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and establish effective working relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education equivalent to an Associate’s degree in electronics, chemistry, physics, or mathematics AND one (1) year of equivalent experience installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing electronic instruments. Preferred but not required: Experience with air quality analytical equipment and instruments.

Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of

  • Principles and techniques of electronics The installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of a variety of analytical instruments and equipment Record keeping principles Basic principles of physics and chemistry Applying applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations Working independently with minimal supervision Gathering, evaluating, tabulating, and recording data Observing safe work methods and practices Understanding and following oral and written directions Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

Additional Requirements: 

A valid California Drivers License or the ability to obtain one upon hire. Flexibility to work on-site as needed. Must be able to attend work on a daily basis as scheduled.
