Postdoctoral Fellow in Infectious Diseases

The Daily lab is hiring a post doctoral fellow to study brain swelling in the experimental model of cerebral malaria (ECM). We are seeking a highly motivated and productive post doc to lead the program which will define mechanisms of brain swelling and coma through analysis of gene knock out of parasite virulence proteins, metabolomics, histopathology and neuroimaging. Adjunctive therapies will be tested in vivo to improve survival in ECM.

The post doctoral fellow will contribute to the design and execution of experiments, interpret data and prepare manuscripts. Additional responsibilities include: tissue culture work, animal work, and maintaining a scientific notebook. Working closely with other scientists in the laboratory and on-campus.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in an appropriate field is required. Experience in neuroscience, molecular biology and in vivo models is highly desirable. Strong motivation, work ethic and collegiality are required. Self directed and good communication skills are required.
