FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Psychology at the City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for an endowed chair in cognitive neuroscience – The Eugene J. Surowitz and Helen M. Teclaw Professor of Neuroscience – to begin in Fall 2025. The CCNY Psychology Department is a vibrant, diverse department located in Harlem, serving over 2000 undergraduate majors. The department offers a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and maintains strong affiliations with the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, which houses a 3T MRI scanner on campus, and the Ph.D. program in Neuroscience and M.S. program in Cognitive Neuroscience, located at the CUNY Graduate Center. The hire is part of a new initiative to expand cognitive neuroscience research at CCNY. The ideal candidate will be active in the fields of functional neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, and/or artificial intelligence, with a focus on cognitive neuroscience. The department encourages faculty participation in the Ph.D. program in Neuroscience at the CUNY Graduate Center and provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations with other on-campus programs, including the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, the Grove School of Engineering, the CUNY School of Medicine, and the Initiative for Theoretical Sciences. This senior position also provides the opportunity for research collaborations through the U54 partnership between CCNY and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Research Center for Minority Institutions (RCMI) at the CUNY School of Medicine, and other intramural opportunities. The position will include teaching, research, mentorship, and departmental service.

The candidate is expected to maintain an active program of research, obtain external grant support, publish theoretical and empirical research in top-tier journals, be committed to both undergraduate and graduate education, and provide mentoring to students and junior faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or a similarly allied field is required.

COMPENSATION

Salary: $141,858
