Postdoctoral fellow position in Cell Biology
The Department of Cell Biology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellow from outstanding candidates with an interest and/or expertise in (1) Hematopoietic stem cell biology (2) Immunology and (3) Leukemia development.
The Department of Cell Biology at Einstein was one of the first in the country (founded in 1961) and has a rich and distinguished history of scientific discovery and innovation, as well as mentoring, training, and education. It consistently ranks among the top 10 in the nation in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and in the top 5 in NIH funding per investigator. Candidates will be considered for a postdoctoral position in the Nandakumar lab. Research in the Nandakumar laboratory is focused on understanding how germline genetic variants predispose to clonal hematopoiesis and hematologic malignancies. The lab specializes in CRISPR/Cas9 editing, high-throughput genetic screens and complex conditional murine models to dissect mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cell clonal expansion and leukemia development. Specifically, the candidate will be working on a project investigating the role of antigen presentation in clonal expansion of myelodysplastic syndrome stem cells. The project will involve the use of transgenic murine models, stem cell assays and T-cell and stem cell co-culture systems.
In addition to a Ph.D., applicants should have a record of publication, and experience with essential laboratory techniques, including experience working with genetic mouse models, multi-color flow cytometry, and tissue culture. The position will provide considerable opportunities for intellectual development through dedicated individual mentorship and guidance. Support and freedom will be provided to ask important research questions and independently develop innovative research projects. Ability and interest to perform bioinformatics analysis is desired but not required.
Please send a cover letter describing research interests and accomplishments, CV, and the names and addresses of three references to satish.nandakumar@einsteinmed.edu.
