Summary
The purpose of this position is to study the effects of ionizing radiation on neurons and astrocytes of the brain. The candidate will employ cell biological, biochemical, histological, and live imaging techniques to define the events that precipitate with radiation exposure and develop and test strategies to ameliorate them. The initial focus of this position will be on events occurring at the plasma membrane.

Job Duties
- Conducts studies on the effects of radiation on plasma membranes
- Performs experiments, collects and analyzes data, organizes results into deliverables (talks, papers, etc.), assists in preparation, submission, and revision of manuscripts.
- Contributes to the maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory.
- Performs assigned lab maintenance duties, assists in preparation of primary neurons and astrocytes, participates in laboratory functions, especially lab meetings, assists in cataloging constructs and antibodies.
- Bolsters scientific environment of laboratory.
- Maintains highest ethical standards in research and conduct, provides constructive criticism of ideas and work, acts as a resource to other researchers in lab.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- Experience Required: None Required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications
- A successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent, preferably working with radiation, preferably with our group. This individual will have a solid foundation in the techniques described above in Section 1.
- The candidate will work well in a collaborative environment without being codependent. This position is short-term.
