Deputy Director Operations (DDO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Institute for Translational Research (ITR). The DDO will ensure that our institution’s administrative functions and operational strategies align with advancing knowledge, helping patients, and fostering research excellence. This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the academic and research environment, exceptional management skills, and an ability to implement the strategy and vision of ITR as set by the Executive Director (ED) while ensuring operational efficiency. DDO reports directly to the ED and oversees overall management of all personnel, excluding other personnel reporting directly to the ED.

The Institute for Translational Research (ITR) is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC), and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree and eight years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and solving complex operational problems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, and the ability to translate data into clear and simple messages for a wide range of audiences
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to generate respect and trust from colleagues, direct reports, and external constituents
  • Ability to maintain calm and steadiness during times of crisis or stress
  • Ability to provide long-term, inspirational vision while simultaneously creating pragmatic solutions to day-to-day problems.
