Position Description
The Department of Chemistry at Yale University (New Haven, CT) invites applications for a Preceptor position (https://chem.yale.edu/preceptorships-chemistry). The position will focus on General Chemistry lecture and lab. Preceptors are recent chemistry Ph.D. graduates interested in developing their career as a chemical educator. Preceptors are appointed as lecturers and participate in undergraduate teaching, with specific responsibilities that may include guiding discussion and laboratory sections, assisting instructors of record to design and deliver course content and assessment tasks, contributing to the training of graduate-student teaching assistants, participating in the development of new laboratory modules, conducting regular review sessions, and grading. Preceptors gain the professional skills required for a career in chemical education by working closely with faculty members. Preceptors are encouraged to further pursue their professional development through the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning (https://poorvucenter.yale.edu/), and to avail themselves of opportunities to participate in research in education. The position will begin on August 1, 2025, and initially will be offered for a one (1) year term, renewable for up to three (3) years based on performance.
