The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an outstanding early-career Scientist to establish research programs in Cancer Biology – broadly defined. The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD or equivalent designation; extensive experience in one or more functional and cancer biology fields; outstanding research track record during PhD and postdoctoral training and be expected to develop an independent world-class research program. Applications across the spectrum of cancer biology are encouraged with emphasis on functional and mechanistic research towards development of future therapies. Priorities include, but are not restricted to, cancer cell and molecular biology, high resolution imaging and structural biology, cancer models, proteomics, chemical biology, use and development of advanced research platforms or methodologies, or novel combinations thereof.

Research Institute appointment is expected at the rank of Scientist within the Princess Margaret, on a career path to Senior Scientist over a six-year period (tenure-track-equivalent). Successful candidates will initiate and maintain a competitive and independently funded research program of international caliber and will be supported by a generous start‐up package complemented by independent modern laboratory space and extensive institutional expertise and resources in genomics, proteomics, computational and structural biology, cutting-edge high-throughput and research core facilities. New Princess Margaret faculty are eligible and anticipated to seek academic appointments, as teaching staff, at Assistant/Associate Professor level (status only) in the Department of Medical Biophysics and/or other departments at the University of Toronto. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and be consistent with UHN policy.

The Faculty Search Committee recognizes that scholars have varying career paths and that career interruptions due to personal circumstances can be part of an excellent academic record. Committing to an inclusive recruitment process, the Committee will shortlist applications based on the applicant’s scientific excellence, alignment with Princess Margaret research programs, and with an aim to correct conditions of disadvantage in employment experienced by the four designated groups in Canada’s Employment Equity Act (women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of visible minorities). UHN is a respectful, caring, and inclusive workplace. We are committed to championing accessibility, diversity and equal opportunity. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
