Job Details

As a veterinarian in the Department of Comparative Medicine, the Assistant/Associate Professor provides oversight for the clinical care responsibilities for breeding colonies and experimental animals, implements animal care and welfare standards, and collaborates with investigators by providing research services. This position will provide clinical care to new world and/or old world nonhuman primate species and may support the centralized services of surgery, x-ray, and ultrasonography of this colony. This position may fulfill the role and responsibilities of a clinical veterinarian in nonclinical laboratory studies as defined by FDA 21 CFR Part 58 and may participate in administrative or compliance programs as directed. He/she/they may perform basic research, independent and/or collaborative, that contributes to the knowledge base of the Cancer Center, strengthens translational research activities, and satisfies the goals of the Department.

Candidates must have earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited university and be legally qualified to practice veterinary medicine in some state, province, territory, or possession of the Unites States.

Candidates must have post graduate nonhuman primate clinical experience in Veterinary Medicine and/or Laboratory Animal Medicine. Experience in conducting Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) investigations preferred, as is being board certified in laboratory animal medicine (DACLAM). He/she must meet institutional requirements for an academic appointment as an Assistant/Associate Professor.

Work Location: Onsite

This position has a target base salary of $117,750 to $215,091 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
