Research Field: Integration of HPC, Big Data and AI
In the rapidly progressing digital information society, methods for processing huge amounts of data, called big data analytics, are becoming significantly more important. As the fields of science and engineering generate vast amounts of data and store it as digital information, improvements in processing power are expected to greatly contribute to the advancement of these fields. Essential components for achieving high-performance big data analytics include advanced big data processing methods leveraging high-performance systems such as supercomputers. In recent years, the convergence of high-performance computing (HPC), big data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) has paved the way for groundbreaking scientific and engineering advancements. In particular, the enhancement of computational science and engineering through generative AI is already being applied in fields such as medicine, drug discovery, materials science, and weather forecasting. As the integration of HPC, big data, and AI progresses, there are great expectations for solving various social issues across a wider range of fields. It is essential to develop software to efficiently develop and utilize foundation models for generative AI for computational science and engineering. In order to efficiently develop such foundation models, it is necessary to repeat training and inference at high speed on large-scale and diverse data.

This recruitment is seeking a person who can lead the following new innovations based on high-performance big data analytics using supercomputers: (1) Promoting the development of foundation models for generative AI in computational science and engineering, (2) Developing new frontiers in science and engineering through the integration of HPC, big data, and AI.
