The Department of Biochemistry at Virginia Tech invites applications from outstanding scientists for an academic-year, tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in the broad area of macromolecular complexes. Individuals that utilize or develop cutting-edge experimental and/or computational tools to address important questions related to the regulation, structure, and function of protein and/or nucleic acid complexes are strongly encouraged to apply. The Department is highly collaborative and has current research strengths in the areas of infectious disease, microbial physiology/biochemistry, molecular genetics, computer modeling/simulation, and drug design. Virginia Tech is home to excellent core facilities in mass spectrometry, genomics, NMR, and an NSF-funded materials innovation platform with cutting-edge instrumentation for characterization of glycomaterials. The successful candidate will build and maintain an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program. The candidate is also expected to contribute to graduate and/or undergraduate teaching, while also functioning as an active and collegial member of the departmental and university community, fully committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive environment.
