The Fox Chase Cancer Center invites applicants for tenure-track faculty positions at the level of assistant professor and associate professor in the Cancer Epigenetics Institute and Nuclear Dynamics and Cancer program. While outstanding candidates working in all areas of epigenetics and chromatin biology are invited to apply, we are particularly soliciting applications from candidates that are interested in the following areas:

  1. DNA Damage and Repair Mechanism(s), chromatin and cancer;
  2. Role of modified RNAs and epi-transcriptomics in gene regulation and/or in cancer;
  3. Role of chromatin remodelers in cancer development, progression and/or resistance;
  4. Structure-Function: Chromatin modulators, gene regulation, replication and repair;
  5. Relationship between metabolic pathways and epigenetic control.

Successful applicants will join a highly interactive institution that is committed to bridging basic discovery to clinical application through collaboration. Fox Chase was among the nation’s first institutions to receive Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the NCI in 1974. There are >140 research faculty that generate ~$70.0 million in funding. The research faculty are surrounded by clinical colleagues that provide care for over 105,000 individuals and support >140 treatment clinical trials, of which >60 are investigator-initiated. Two particular highlights of the center are the superb clinical pipeline that facilitates rapid translation of basic science discoveries into the clinic and the world-class core facilities that are easily accessed.

At Fox Chase Cancer Center, we recognize the importance of welcoming diverse voices, valuing different skillsets and backgrounds, and celebrating the collective richness of our individuality. We believe that diverse teams can bring different perspectives and creativity to address complex scientific problems and to achieve equitable cancer control and cancer care for all individuals. The communities that we serve deserve fair and equal access to resources and services according to individual circumstances and needs. To achieve this we will work to ensure that our faculty, staff and trainees represent the communities that we serve. We will uphold a climate that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion as key ingredients in everything that we do, and we will facilitate and promote equitable research ensuring that everyone has the chance to be as healthy as possible.

Applicants interested in joining such an environment should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with an outstanding record of research productivity. The application should contain the following information - a curriculum vitae, a brief (up to two pages) statement of research interests and future goals and a list of three individuals providing letters of recommendation or provide them directly. Please send the application via email to Johnathan Whetstine (Epigenetics@fccc.edu), Director, Cancer Epigenetics Institute, Fox Chase Cancer Center.
