Provides instruction in basic and advanced life support courses

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Performs duties of a Basic Life Support Training Center Faculty (60%) Conducts American Heart Association courses and serves as a content expert in Basic Life Support (BLS), HeartSaver (HS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS). Maintains compliance with AHA guidelines, coordinates instructors, provides customer service and maintains the program in accordance with the Program Administration Manual (PAM). Participates in community training and programs for the prevention of heart attack and stroke. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment required for course delivery. Ensures that all training materials and equipment are up-to-date and readily available for instructors and participants. Maintains accurate records of course scheduling, attendance, and completion certificates. Provides timely order requests prior to depletion of inventory and allow for standard shipping.

Fulfills Instructor Role for Advanced Level American Heart Association Courses (30%) Provides consistent, organized and timely delivery of objectives, course content, and assessment of course participant checklists. Conducts regular audits and evaluations of training center operations to identify areas for improvement. Address any issues related to course quality and provide corrective action as needed. Maintain accurate records of course statistics, certifications, and participant feedback. Address inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally. Participate in debriefing communication organized by institution policies to enhance the understanding of treatment algorithms and improve knowledge in the clinical setting.

Fulfills instructor role for Non-AHA Advanced Level Courses (10%) Maintains instructor status for Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), Pediatric Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (PFCCS), Adult Fundamental Critical Care Support (AFCCS) and in Basic Trauma Life Support (ITLS), and other courses as assigned. Provides lectures and skills session for these courses. Recruit, train, and maintain a pool of qualified instructors for all courses. Foster a positive and welcoming environment within the training center.

Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
Required: Two years of experience in a related healthcare occupation.

Preferred: Three years lecturing/teaching American Heart Association. Prior experience as a mentor, clinical educator, or trainer.

Certification/Licensure
Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Certified as American Heart Association Basic Life Support instructor within 90 days of job entry.
