Postdoctoral Research Scientist
The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with an interest in membrane protein structural biology to join the laboratory of Oliver Clarke, PhD. Multiple possible projects are available, including projects focused on understanding regulation and gating of intracellular calcium release channels, and those aimed at probing how ankyrin mediates clustering of membrane proteins and influences cellular shape. The ideal candidate should have experience in membrane protein biochemistry and overexpression. Although not required, some experience in structural biology is preferred.
Required Qualifiications:
- Applicants must be a recent recipient of a doctorate degree (PhD, MD, or both). Recent means the doctorate cannot be awarded more than three years prior to start date, no exceptions.
This position falls under a collective bargaining agreement between Columbia University and Columbia Postdoctoral Workers-UAW (CPW-UAW) Local 4100. Columbia University offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.

Hiring Salary Range: $71,050–$75,000 annually. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
