Tenure-track faculty positions available at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC
The Genomics Research Center at Academia Sinica invites talented and dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team. The newly formed Metabolic Sciences Division is seeking candidates with a research focus on understanding metabolic and bioenergetic mechanisms that impact human health. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise (or with strong interests) in developing metabolomics/lipidomics and metabolic flux analyses to examine physiological or pathological processes related to metabolism and immunology.
The Genomics Research Center (GRC; https://www.genomics.sinica.edu.tw/en/) is organized into three Divisions of Chemical Biology, Medical Biology, and Metabolic Sciences, aiming for translating scientific discoveries from genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and glycomics approaches to disease therapeutics and diagnostics for precision healthcare and medicine. Candidates with expertise complementary to existing research programs of the Medical and Chemical Biology Divisions are also encouraged to apply:
Medical Biology Division: Interested in candidates with experience in tumor immunology and in stem cell/organoid tissue development to model human disease.
Chemical Biology Division: Seeking expertise in glycobiology and/or chemical biology to study human diseases and in detection and synthesis of novel metabolites through metabolomics studies.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree or its equivalent, with appropriate postdoctoral research experience. Successful recruits will be appointed at the levels of Assistant, Associate, or Full Research Fellow, equivalent to academic ranks of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at a university. A generous start-up package, followed by annual intramural support, will be provided.
The GRC offers a stimulating research environment supported by both extramural and long-term intramural funding. The center hosts several core facilities managed by Specialists, including NMR Core, Peptide Core, HPLC/Mass Spectrometry Core, Glycan Core, Pathology Core, Flow Cytometry facility, imaging facility, and Ultra High Throughput Drug Screening Facility. Additional state-of-the-art facilities are available within the Academia Sinica campus. English is the official language for seminars and lectures, and proficiency in Chinese is not required.
Academia Sinica currently has 24 institutes and 9 research centers located in three research sections: the Mathematics and Physical Sciences Division, Life Sciences Division, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. There are currently over 8,000 research fellows, research technicians, assistants, and administrative staff. GRC is one of the nice research institutes/centers of Division of Life Sciences located in the Taipei Campus of Academia Sinica.
