The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This recruitment is part of the university’s Presidential Frontier Faculty Program, a university-wide interdisciplinary hiring initiative designed to support convergence research in key areas of the university's research mission. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in immunology or closely related fields and a proven record of accomplishment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that addresses therapeutic and/or preventive approaches for immune-related diseases, such as cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune disorders. Relevant research areas could include, but are not limited to, development of new drug delivery platforms, cell- or gene-based immunotherapies, or personalized immuno-oncology combinations for cancer treatment.

The position requires a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in a relevant field with significant academic or research experience. For applicants at the Associate Professor level, a strong record of scientific achievement and external funding is essential. Faculty members are expected to establish and maintain nationally competitive, externally funded research programs and contribute to both graduate and undergraduate teaching. The Department of Biology and Biochemistry provides state-of-the-art laboratory space within the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC), access to advanced core facilities, and numerous opportunities for collaboration within the University of Houston and at nearby institutions, including the Texas Medical Center.
