The research expenditures of the College of Medicine have doubled in the last 4 years, with momentum continuing to build.

The successful candidates will have a PhD and/or MD and a proven track record of excellence in creative approaches to cutting edge interdisciplinary/collaborative research. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of successful extramurally funded research programs in infectious diseases, immunology, cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology, endocrinology, pathology, metabolism, stem cell biology, or neurosciences; however, leading scientists in all fields will be considered. Cluster or team hires are possible. In addition to extensive infrastructure to support basic science work at the cellular, molecular, and behavioral levels using model systems, opportunities for outpatient clinical practice and human subjects research are available. Excellent mentoring and teaching skills are essential to our mission of preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals and scientists. The Research and Discovery mission of the College of Medicine is facilitated by more than 150,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art laboratory space. New state-of-the art research space and facilities are continually being added. Departmental Core infrastructure includes resources for proteomics, genomics, advanced confocal, super-resolution and multiphoton microscopy, flow cytometry, cell culture, and laboratory animal sciences. The Translational Science Core Laboratory (https://med.fsu.edu/translationalLab/home) is equipped with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and deep sequencing equipment. A 3T MRI system (Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma) dedicated to research is also available.
