Job Summary/Basic Function

The Forensic Science Program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#103020) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

Position Highlights:

  • Conduct Independent Research: Lead groundbreaking forensic science research and mentor students (undergraduate, MS, and PhD) to achieve national and international recognition.
  • Curriculum Development and Teaching: Create and teach courses in the successful candidate's area of expertise within the Forensic Science Program. Opportunities to teach non-forensic courses for the Department of Biology in the successful candidate's area of expertise are also available.
  • Competitive Start-Up Package: Receive a robust start-up package to support research endeavors.
  • Externally Funded Research Program: Establish and maintain an externally funded research program suitable for mentoring master’s and doctoral students.

Required Education

A terminal degree in biology, forensic science, or a closely related field appropriate for a forensic science program is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with post-doctoral research experience, a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and a level of grant or fellowship funding that reflects high productivity commensurate with the applicant's current career stage will receive special consideration.
