The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) seeks applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in the area of experimental soft and/or living matter physics, broadly defined. Qualifications include: (1) Demonstrated ability and originality in research; (2) Capacity for teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and for mentoring/supporting a diverse student body; (3) Ability to direct graduate/undergraduate research; (4) PhD by the time of appointment, which is expected to be July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative research program that attracts external funding and creates synergy with Penn faculty, e.g., with member faculty in the Center for Soft and Living Matter and the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter.
