A tenure-track assistant professor position is available at Baylor College of Medicine to establish a research program in chemical biology or other areas broadly relevant to drug discovery.

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is recognized as one of the nation's premier academic health science centers and is known for excellence in education, research, healthcare, and community service. Located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world, BCM offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research. The Verna and Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology is focused on using small molecules and biologics to understand and modify disease-relevant cellular processes.

The Department invites applications from outstanding scientists for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in the field of chemical biology and drug discovery. Faculty in the department have diverse expertise, including drug discovery, enzymology, structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, cancer biology, and cell biology. Our drug discovery platforms include structure-guided drug design, fragment-based, DNA encoded library-based, and target-agnostic chemoproteomics-based drug discovery. The ideal candidate will provide complementary and synergistic expertise to our drug discovery efforts and develop an independent, funded research program in chemical biology. Our specific areas of interest for this position include protein/antibody design and engineering, functional genomics to understand pharmacology, structure-based drug design, proteomics and chemoproteomics, and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the target identification and drug discovery process. For candidates with computational expertise, preference will be given to those with an experimental component to validate computational results.

The candidate will supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and contribute to the educational programs in the Department and College. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, postdoctoral experience and a strong record of research accomplishments. Competitive compensation and a generous start-up package will be provided. For consideration, applicants should fill in an application form and submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, summary of research accomplishments, statement of research interests, and the names of three references as a single PDF file (< 10 MB) via https://forms.gle/C24QiHJmBmpWZTLf9. A Google account is required to upload your application file. The single PDF file should be named “LastName_FirstName.pdf”, such as “Smith_John.pdf”. The review of applications will begin on November 30 and continue until the position is filled.
