The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Alabama is inviting applicants for a 12-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position. The Department of Biomedical Sciences, administratively housed in the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions, is the second largest undergraduate program at USA, with approximately 500 students. The program offers a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with concentrations in Pre-Health Professions, Biotechnology, and Public and Global Health, as well as a non-thesis M.S. degree, for students interested in pursuing careers or graduate study in medical/health professions and biomedical research.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in any area of biomedical science and at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience; teaching experience is not required but preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach a course in immunology and upper-level elective courses in the program that align with their expertise, e.g. genetics, pharmacology, using modem, high-impact pedagogical practices. The successful candidate is also expected to establish a vibrant, extramurally funded research program and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students, exposing them to contemporary biomedical research techniques.
