MULTIPLE FACULTY POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Basic and Translational Biomedical Research

 

The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Genetics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), and within the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) is recruiting tenure-track faculty (Assistant, Associate, or full Professor) in all aspects of biology, including research in the areas of structural biology, microbial pathogenesis, molecular genetics, microbiology, and biochemistry. Recruited faculty are expected to establish an innovative, independent, and collaborative research program that complements and continues to expand programs in basic and translational research with RBHS. Interdisciplinary approaches will be fostered partly by joint appointments within the Center for Immunity and Inflammation (CII), the Center for Cell Signaling (CCS), at Rutgers-NJMS, and Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine at Rutgers University (iQB@R). Candidates are expected to contribute to the Medical School and Graduate School programs in their area of expertise in a teaching capacity. The department is housed in the International Center for Public Health (ICPH), along with the Public Health Research Institute (PHRI) and the Center for Emerging Pathogens in Science Park, located in University Heights, Newark, NJ. Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, 20 min away from New York City.
 

The position will be supported by a competitive start-up package with exceptional candidates being considered for further support as Chancellor Scholars.
 

A new Cryo-EM suite, located within the Department, contains a 100kV Tundra microscope equipped with a speed-enhanced Ceta-F camera and Vitrobot IV sample preparation equipment. In addition, we have access to additional Rutgers Cryo-EM and Cryo-ET instrumentation, including a 200kV Talos Arctica microscope, an Aquilos 2 FIB-SEM microscope, and a Leica Cryo-CLEM system located in on the Rutgers-Piscataway, NJ campus.  
 

Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent), outstanding academic credentials, and completed competitive postdoctoral training with a strong publication history in the areas of structural biology, microbial pathogenesis, molecular genetics, microbiology, and biochemistry. In addition, applicants must have demonstrated potential to obtain extramural funding for basic or translational research.
