The Department of Applied Science at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in Genomic Data Science. Appointment will begin August 10, 2025. We are interested in individuals with evidence of scholarly achievement and expertise in genomic data science, broadly construed to include genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and/or computational biology. The candidate’s research program is expected to include both experimental (wet lab, data generating) and computational (data analysis, computational methods) components. Exceptional applicants from all areas of genomic data science will be considered.

Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant, externally funded research program that involves Ph.D. students and undergraduates. The Department of Applied Science (https://www.wm.edu/as/appliedscience/) is part of the New School for Computation, Data Sciences, and Physics (https://www.wm.edu/about/administration/provost/action-areas/newschool/). Applied Science faculty are highly interdisciplinary and often collaborate with faculty across the University.

The teaching expectation is one course per semester, typically including a lecture course in genomic data science to serve the Applied Science graduate program and undergraduate students from the programs mentioned above, as well as an upper-level course in the applicant’s area of expertise.
