Summary
The Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) ensures the health and well-being of research animals at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). CCM provides the highest quality animal care and acts as a resource for the faculty on veterinary and scientific issues relating to the use of laboratory animals. CCM is seeking a competent and reliable Supervisor of Animal Care to oversee daily husbandry activities within the CNRC and VA animal facilities in the Texas Medical Center. This position is responsible for supervising husbandry staff and vivarium operations for a mixed species building.

Job Duties
- Provides support to Senior Manager, Animal Care
- Supervises animal care staff
- Interacts and coordinates with staff to assure health and welfare of animals
- Schedules and assigns work to animal care staff
- Reviews and approves staff time sheets
- Mentors and trains direct reports
- Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and industry standards
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidance documents
- Assists faculty and researchers regarding husbandry needs
- Ensures facility and equipment maintenance and repairs occur in a timely manner
- Provides reports on facility function, personnel issues, inventory, data collection, and room/animal logs and records
- Ensures an adequate inventory of feed, bedding, and supplies is available to support facility operations
- Collects and reviews animal census reports
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Laboratory Animal Technologist (LAT) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS)
