The Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY, is recruiting early and mid-career tenure-track faculty as part of a major expansion in basic and translational science research.

We seek energetic and innovative scientists to join a highly dynamic, multidisciplinary research community. Attracting more than $30M in cancer-focused funding a year, Wilmot’s core research programs have strengths in RNA biology, cancer metabolism, epigenetics/genomics and plasticity, radiation biology, aging in cancer, and a focus on the tumor microenvironment, including tumor immunology. The center also boasts a world-class cancer control program and an extensive clinical trials portfolio providing numerous opportunities for innovative translational research. Wilmot and UR Medicine are the major cancer care providers in central New York State and the Finger Lakes region, with >6000 new patients annually.  For more information on the Wilmot Cancer Institute and its research programs see: https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/cancer-institute/research.aspx.

New faculty will benefit from vibrant graduate/professional training programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong commitment to career development. The city of Rochester offers a rich cultural environment and ranks #1 among Northeast cities to live post-COVID. In addition, the University is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.

The University of Rochester is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture embracing all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, marital status, age, physical abilities, political affiliation, religious beliefs, or any other non-merit factor so that all employees feel included, equally valued and supported. We believe that a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace culture enhances the performance of our organization and our ability to fulfill our missions.  Leaders of the Wilmot Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion actively participate in the recruitment process.

Candidates should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and a demonstrated track record of cancer-relevant research.  We encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups and from those with unconventional career paths.

Interested individuals should submit a CV, statement of research interests/plans, a DEI statement, pdfs of two key publications, and have three letters of recommendation sent to the search committee c/o Jaycee Turney at Jaycee_Turney@urmc.rochester.edu. Application review is ongoing and qualified applicants will be contacted for immediate consideration.
