The Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, seeks applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a start date of July 1, 2025. The Department of Bioengineering, a Top 10 ranked department by US News & World Report, is located in the BioScience Research Collaborative building, adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.

We encourage candidates in the following areas to apply: cancer immunoengineering and immunotherapy, neuroengineering and wearable technology, bioprinting and biomanufacturing, and nucleic acid and drug delivery. However, candidates from all areas of bioengineering will be considered. Outstanding candidates at higher ranks (Associate Professor or Full Professor) may also be considered.

Faculty members are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, perform research in their specialized area, and contribute to university service. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, and collegial service. Successful candidates will be required to have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates will be expected to establish a strong research program supported by extramural funding. Rice offers an outstanding environment for research at the interface of bioengineering, biology and medicine, with strong collaborations with the adjacent Texas Medical Center.

We seek greater representation of women, scholars of color, people with disabilities, veterans, and others who have historically been underrepresented in Bioengineering; to attract international students from a wider range of countries and backgrounds; to accelerate progress in building a faculty and staff who are diverse in background and thought; and an inclusive environment that fosters interaction and understanding within our diverse community.
