Westlake University is a new type of research university in Hangzhou, China. It is creating a stimulating, world-class environment for interdisciplinary research and education in science, engineering and technology, and life sciences. School of Life Sciences (SLS) at Westlake University invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at all academic ranks. We seek exceptional candidates to lead vigorous independent research programs in neuroscience research using nonhuman primates as animal models.

Competitive candidates must hold Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees, an outstanding record of research accomplishments, an innovative future research plan, an ability to achieve teaching excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community in the practice and teaching of science. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a vibrant research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and participate in university service and scholarly activities.

Westlake University has established state-of-the-art animal facilities, including a newly established large animal facility that can house nonhuman primates and has the necessary equipment and setups for animal experiments. Other core facilities include cryo-electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, light microscopy, genomics, metabolism, bioinformatics, and high-throughput screening.

1. Cover letter: rank of the position that you apply to, an overview of the goals/vision of your research program, your most significant scientific accomplishments, and a summary of experiences and qualifications that position you to achieve your goals.

2. Curriculum vitae: a complete list of publications should be included.

3. Statement of Research Summary (maximum of 1 page) and Research Proposals (maximum of 3 pages).

The school is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in biomedical research through an emphasis on multidisciplinary training in biology, chemistry, medicine, and engineering.

The School of Life Sciences plans to establish research programs in Biophysics and Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics and Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, Immunology and Microbiology, Systems and Synthetic Biology, Chemical Biology, and other related fields.

To facilitate research and training, the School of Life Sciences has established an Advanced Biomedical Technology (ABT) Core Facility and an Animal Resources Center. The ABT Core Facility is equipped with state-of-the-art research technology; including facilities for cryo-electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, light microscopy, genomics, metabolism, bioinformatics, and high- throughput screening.
