The Chief Science Officer plays a pivotal role in leading our scientific research and development program and developing the strategic scientific roadmap, including improvement of our commercial cancer diagnostic, management of clinical trials, and the development of new diagnostic tests and next-generation research activities. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced person with demonstrated scientific expertise, leadership acumen and strategic vision. The CSO reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a staff of scientists, ensuring their work is aligned with the company's strategy and values.
Develop the short- and long-term scientific objectives for the organization covering research, discovery, product development, clinical validation, agency review and approval, manufacturing, and commercialization of product(s) aligned with the company’s portfolio.
Develop and implement scientific publications strategy.
Develop the strategy for the build-out of the Company’s diagnostic capabilities and leverage external contract research organizations (CROs) that advance research and product development.
Serve as the scientific lead for collaborations with public and private companies, academic institutions, government agencies including the Department of Defense, and non-governmental organizations to advance the Company’s commercial and research activities.
Serve as the scientific due diligence lead for business development activities including search and evaluation, licensing, mergers and acquisitions
Serve as the scientific due diligence lead for competitive analysis activities and marketing efforts including evaluation of publications and clinical trials of competitors.
Seek alliances with other science-based organizations; represent the company’s research and product development with other scientific organizations; create and manage effective partnerships that will drive cutting-edge cancer and lung diagnostics for patients.
Provide guidance on scientific matters with regulatory agencies, scientific and medical personnel.
Participate in the preparation of regulatory submissions providing science-based rationale for actions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
15-20 years of relevant experience in the biomedical industry and/or academic institutions, including senior-level leadership experience. Prior experience in the field of oncology required. Experience working with flow cytometry and machine learning is ideal.
PhD, MD, or similar degree in a life science field from an accredited institution required.
Prior experience building out scientific teams and overseeing diagnostic discovery teams desired.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
Effective interpersonal skills. Prior experience with establishing and advancing industry partnerships strongly desired.
Desired experience around due diligence of business development opportunities.
Potential travel 20% including US and/International.
