The new Center for Cardiac Muscle Biology within the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City is actively seeking dynamic and creative individuals for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position.
The successful candidate will be expected to set up an innovative research program in cardiovascular research with extramural funding (e.g., NIH etc.). Research target areas include cellular, molecular, and physiological myofilament biology, proteinopathies, structure, single molecule biophysics, gene therapy, etc. Candidates who perform research or are interested in investigating Duchenne dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) is Mount Sinai’s hub for both fundamental and translational cardiovascular science, focusing on myofilament function, molecular basis of complex diseases, cardiac bioengineering, cardioimmunology, metabolism, genetics, neurocardiology, and large animal preclinical studies. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an independent, well-funded, research program
- Participate in the development and conduct of innovative and significant research
- Play an active role in training graduate and medical students, and postdoctoral fellows
- Participate in appropriate Institute events, including seminars, retreats, and meetings
- Participate in School of Medicine events, including grand rounds
Qualifications
- PhD and/or MD degree
- Strong publication record, commensurate with level of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Impactful postdoctoral research experience
- Active extramural research funding
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Multi-disciplinary, collaborative training and research
Assistant Professor level position: 125K to 175K
Associate Professor level position: 175K to 200K
Professor level position: 200K to 250K
