Key Responsibilities: Managers to provide high-level responsibilities

The Career & Employer Coordinator will primarily support the Optica Membership division with cutting-edge technical webinars, workshops, and career summits to a global membership.  They will define, develop, and implement strategic initiatives across the global membership portfolio. This position portfolio has four program areas to focus on: Engineering Programs, Emerging Optics & Photonics Technology Programs to support employers and individuals with staff training, professional development, technical programming, and networking. Lastly, create a niche Optics and Photonics job board by partnering with companies across the globe to build a robust state-of-the-art Optica Career Center.   

Qualifications: Managers to provide key qualifications and skills and abilities

In order to be successful in this role, you’ll need to, enjoy program development, engage with companies across the globe; have an entrepreneurial mind, and enjoy driving towards revenue goals of $65k.

Program Management: 

  1. Planning activities in concert with the membership team, MED Council, and volunteers to develop long and short-term strategic priorities.
  2. Programming-Leads efforts to organize 4-6 workshops / 4 webinars and evaluates and reports result
  3. Member and External Relations-Builds and maintains relationships with members, and customers and external organizations.
  4. Public Speaking: Present science topics at webinars, workshops, and conferences
  5. Relationship Building: Develop, implement, and maintain relationships with researchers, academics, and industry leaders to support programs and outreach efforts to members.
  6. Responsible for the creation of a diverse range of science engineer programs to support the Optica engineer members across the globe Identifies industry trends and needs for products, services, and benefits to offer Optica members.
  7. Seeks opportunities for partnerships with like-minded organizations; negotiates agreements and manages the fulfillment of terms.
  8. Partner with Foundations, Federal Agencies, and private companies for sponsorships and grants for STEM programs.

Career Program Management:

  1. Under the guidance of the Director of Membership Engagement, oversee the Optica-wide Career Center for the Optics and Photonics community.  
  2. Provides day-to-day oversight of the WorkinOptics.com job board, and grows revenue via job postings and sponsorships
  3. Partner with the Membership program team in selling 4 career fairs annually and exhibits at two 2 in-person career fairs.
  4. Maintain and develop new customers with external organizations.  
  5. Enhance the current Work in Optics Newsletter as a tool to engage companies.
  6. Develop and implement career development programs, monitor, analyze, and workshops. 
  7. Research emerging trends in careers and employment in STEM fields and proactively propose new programs and resources to transition Optica’s career services
  8. Career Services experience is highly recommended
