Postdoctoral Fellowship, Molecular and Cellular Immunoregulation Section (MCIS)

National Institutes of Health
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB)
Molecular and Cellular Immunoregulation Section (MCIS)

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in the Molecular and Cellular Immunoregulation Section (MCIS) within the Laboratory of Immune System Biology, NIAID.

MCIS aims to address the heterogeneity and plasticity of CD4 T helper (Th) and innate lymphoid cell (ILC) subsets regulated by transcription factor complexes. The lab utilizes multi-color “reporter” fate-mapping and conditional knockout murine models, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, single-cell technologies, and CRISPR/Cas9 screening to study Th and ILC subsets in steady state and autoimmune, allergic, and infectious settings. See more information about MCIS (https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/jinfang-zhu-phd).

MCIS seeks highly motivated and collaborative candidates with a strong publication record who are capable of independent reasoning and excited about learning new technologies.

Qualifications

Required

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) with less than five years of postdoctoral experience
  • Previous experience in molecular and cellular biology

Preferred

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge in immunology, in vivo animal models, single-cell analysis or genome-wide analyses of gene expression, epigenetic modifications, and transcription factor binding using RNAseq and ChIPseq technologies.

To Apply

Interested candidates should email the following to Dr. Jeff Zhu at jfzhu@niaid.nih.gov:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Bibliography
  • A short statement expressing your research goals
  • Contact information for three references
