The Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/medicine/pharmacology/default.aspx) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) invites applications from scientists for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, postdoctoral training, and independent funding. We are specifically looking for applicants with expertise and external funding in the area of pain research and/or comorbid disorders that create synergies with existing strengths in pain, alcohol use disorder and neurodegenerative disease. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an independent research program with external funding. This is a great opportunity for career and leadership development through collaborative efforts with members of the Department and the Center of Excellence for Translational Neuroscience and Therapeutics (CTNT) that is based in the Department and serves to bridge basic science and clinical disciplines through collaborative translational activities across departments and schools (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/centers-institutes/translational-neuroscience-therapeutics/default.aspx).
Participation in medical and graduate training is expected after an appropriate transition period. TTUHSC is an autonomous university adjacent to Texas Tech University (TTU), a vibrant college of more than 40,000 students. TTUHSC has an excellent infrastructure that includes numerous core facilities at the TTUHSC and TTU campuses (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/research/divisions/core-facilities.aspx). The Department and CTNT house behavioral, electrophysiology, molecular biology, confocal and multiphoton microscopy facilities for collaborative research. Additional collaborations exist with the Garrison Institute on Aging at TTUHSC.
