The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) seeks a deputy director of science and technology to join MIT’s hub for low and no-carbon energy research, education, and outreach. We seek a champion of MITEI’s mission who has experience galvanizing successful research collaborations, a track record of delivering superior results, and who supports its commitment to advancing research and policy solutions and fostering collaboration across disciplines and industries as it seeks to combat climate change and expand energy access.
Responsibilities include engaging with MITEI stakeholders, both on- and off-campus, to identify opportunities where its faculty and staff can have high impact, develop solutions, and bring them to global scale; play a key role in MITEI’s ongoing activities, including connecting its members to MIT principal investigators to pursue research projects, conferences, and symposia and promote its work to internal and external communities; providing strategic leadership and vision, including matching potential research sponsors with MIT capabilities and fostering relationships with industrial, public, and non-profit partners; assisting with directing MITEI staff--especially in education, research, and communications--to develop and implement programs, projects, and events; and collaborating with the director on supporting MITEI’s priorities and continued success.
