The Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Montefiore Medical Center Department of Radiology are looking for an image analysis scientist to oversee and manage MRI image analysis, data processing and data support services within the MRRC.   The position is a Research Track (assistant/associate/full) Professor Position and will be expected to support a wide variety of brain imaging applications from a variety of Departments from within the Medical School. The MRRC operation supports research activities on several imaging systems including a 3T Philips Ingenia Elition MRI, a Bruker 7.0 T BioSpec MRI, and a basic science Siemens PET/SPECT/CT Inveon.

Responsibilities

The candidate will work with scientists within the MRRC to develop and implement applications supporting users of the MRRC from within the College of Medicine and Department of Radiology who conduct research on the MRRC instruments.  The candidate will be responsible for managing data offloading (using scripts to move data from the spectrometers / instruments) to the Einstein High Performance Computing (HPC) System, overseeing data management for the MRRC / HPC data archives, and sharing data stored in the archive with individual investigators.  The candidate will have the ability to work with MRRC scientists to develop novel and/or useful software and/or scripts for processing MRI data, as well as collaborating with investigators from the Department of Radiology and within the College of Medicine on research involving the MRRC imaging systems.

The MRRC user base includes investigators from across the Montefiore/Einstein establishment and includes a strong NIH-funded user base.  Use of the research imaging facilities is supported by staff within the MRRC, of which the candidate will be an integral member.  The candidate will join a group of Radiology/MRRC who oversee the MRRC operation. Investigators using the MRRC cover a wide range of brain-to-body imaging topics in aging, dementia, movement disorders, language, psychiatric and metabolic diseases in both man and animals.

Resources available to the candidate include personal computing resources, a high-performance computing infrastructure (The Einstein HPC), which is managed by the computing infrastructure team and an existing modular image analysis pipeline built to utilize commercial and freeware developed for imaging processing and analysis.  Nearly all major image analysis packages are supported on the Einstein HPC, including MATLAB, FSL, and NIH software packages.  Investigators collaborate with image processing teams from across the US.

 Qualifications

The successful candidates will have Ph.D. in a field relevant to computation and image analysis.  A strong knowledge of UNIX, Linux and use of Windows and MAC platforms is essential, as well as working knowledge of scripting, MATLAB, FSL and SPM analysis packages.  The position(s) will be substantially supported by the Einstein MRRC.
