MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Licensing Coordinator is to facilitate the licensing and commercialization of technology developed at the institution by working with faculty and staff to identify and evaluate new inventions, marketing to and initiating contacts with potential licensees, and negotiating and closing licensing agreements. He/She will coordinate with the Technology Analyst in the evaluation and marketing of new inventions. He/She will participate in the development of commercialization strategies, and negotiate and close license agreements, and report to the Managing Director.

The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, enthusiastic recent PhD graduate with previous exposure to the technology transfer field.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Marketing Identify and contact companies that may be interested in licensing new inventions.

Negotiation Prepare, negotiate and close license agreements with licensees.

Valuation Create financial models for institutional assets.

Technology Assessment Evaluate new invention disclosures for patentability and market potential.

Faculty Contact Respond to and initiate contacts with faculty regarding their inventions and new ideas for inventions.

Collaboration Work with others on the team to develop marketing and intellectual property strategies and conduct market analysis for technologies in portfolio.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
Required: Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Preferred: PhD in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years of experience in biological research. With preferred degree (PhD), no experience required.
Preferred: One or more years of experience in cancer research. Previous experience in technology transfer, commercialization process or related, intellectual property, or biotechnology/pharma industry.
