Available Faculty Positions in Microbiology & Immunology

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC, Rochester, NY) is recruiting a junior level tenure-track faculty member to complement current strong research programs in the area of Microbiology & Immunology.  We are seeking an outstanding researcher who will establish an innovative research program within areas of potential research focus that may include, but are not limited to, bacterial pathogenesis, ESKAPE pathogens, host-microbiome interactions in human health and disease, CRISPR-Cas systems and bacterial immunity, and novel antimicrobial and vaccine development.

Microbiology and Immunology at URMC has a strong legacy of foundational and translational research, with many successful collaborations already established among our current faculty and a number of other departments and centers throughout the medical center and university.  Microbiology and Immunology represents a major pillar of the URMC Strategic Plan, and we are committed to further strengthening this critically important research area.

URMC has a strong culture of vigorous discussion which fosters a culture of critical thinking and constructive collaboration, and welcomes a diversity of thought and approach from researchers with different experiences.  Our interactive culture and close proximity across clinical and research missions supports a tradition of productive partnerships between experienced basic and clinical researchers, including excellent access to diverse adult and pediatric patient populations.

We seek energetic and creative scientists to join this highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research community.  Qualified candidates should have a successful research background in a relevant discipline, and a PhD, MD or equivalent degree.  The selected candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program, engage in collaborative research, and participate in undergraduate, graduate, and medical student education. Candidates with a strong record of accomplishments should apply by submitting a single PDF containing a cover letter; curriculum vitae; contact information for 3 references; statement of current research and future plans; and a statement on diversity and inclusion to:  Daisy_Bird@urmc.rochester.edu. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups, as well as applicants with unconventional career tracks.

The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of

and supported. The University of Rochester is responsive to the needs of dual career couples.
