Scientist for photocathode development and technical supervision
Limited: 3 years | Starting date: earliest possible | ID: MMA036/2024 | Deadline: 25.07.2024 | Full-time/Part-time

The European XFEL is the world leading hard x-ray free electron laser facility. One task of the group MVS is to prepare and develop the photocathodes used in the photoinjector of the European XFEL to ensure continuous operation.
About your role:
- Preparation of photocathodes for the European XFEL
- Analysis of photocathodes before and after application
- Design and development of new photocathodes for the application in superconducting RF structures
About you:
- PhD degree in physics, physics technology, chemistry or equivalent qualification
- Practical experience with UHV systems is required
- Expertise in nano-structuring metallic surfaces is required
- Expertise in surface analysis e.g. with AES or XPS is advantageous
- Proficiency in the English language
