Biology Laboratory Manager

Hillsdale College, a highly selective and independent liberal arts college of about 1400 students in southern Michigan, is seeking an experienced laboratory technician to manage our Core Molecular Laboratory. Primary duties would include operation of applied biosystems SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer, applied biosystems StepOnePlus Real-Time PCR System, PCR thermal cyclers, and other associated equipment, and would also include the training and management of advanced undergraduate students on this equipment. Other duties would include coordinating introductory biology laboratory teaching assistants and laboratory materials in conjunction with biology faculty, assisting in culture maintenance, and providing other laboratory support as needed. The ideal applicant would have an MS degree in biology, chemistry, or related field, with experience and familiarity with DNA sequencing and PCR methodologies and an interest in working directly with undergraduate students. Will consider BS degree only with requisite experience. The position is full-time with benefits and would include a renewable 12-month contract.
