ROLE SUMMARY:

Pfizer is looking for a senior leader of Data Science building and leading a best-in-class team in commercial analytics and data science. Reporting to the VP of Data Science and Machine Learning, this person will be responsible for leading a team of data scientists who are aligned by therapeutic areas and support the brands (marketing and sales teams) in their strategy and execution. You will be leading a team of leaders who oversee their respective therapeutic area (TA) analytics, and your goal will be to drive efficient and scalable analytics across TA analytics while ensuring tight alignment with business priorities. You will be ensuring best in class methodologies and deliverables across the entire data journey from Descriptive to Predictive analytics.

Data based decisioning is at the heart of what we do, from optimizing go-to-market strategy and marketing to ensuring our sales teams are equipped with the most relevant and helpful information to power their discussions with providers. We are seeking an experienced senior leader to manage and grow a team of data science professionals to design, develop, and deliver analyses and tools that have direct and measurable impact to customers and business outcomes. We are looking for someone that is passionate about building analytics practices to solve complicated business problems and deliver on our strategies. You will work cross functionally with CMO team, business leaders, and digital team to empower decision-making with high speed and scale and accelerate marketing transformation.

You are self-directed with wide range of technical skills and are highly proficient in turning data discoveries into analytical insights and products that drive business and customer outcomes. This role is meaningful tactically and strategically and requires a mix of leadership and deep experience directing the activities of a highly applied and deliverables focused team. Can be hands-on if needed leading advanced analytics solutions using various supervised and unsupervised ML procedures to help drive incremental revenue.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role is accountable for delivering data science driven insights & solutions and will partner with senior functional leads for Insight and Strategy, Analytics Engineering, Market Research, Analytics Governance to develop and implement models, insights, and data products that drive brands' strategic priorities.
  • You are a hands-on leader who has demonstrated the ability to hire, build and develop high performing teams to meet the needs of a highly dynamic and complex business. Lead and manage team leaders responsible for data scientists across all therapeutic areas including delivery of high performance and scalable data science solutions and platforms across enterprise.
  • Execute the data science strategy and roadmap to identify and implement data pipelines and tools to ensure efficient and seamless integration with business.
  • Responsible for creation and maturation of data science delivery best practices and change management within the team and through relevant stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to drive implementation of new or existing applications by being a thought leader and identifying high impact project opportunities and process changes.
  • Use advanced machine learning techniques for driving highly applied analyses and tools to directly drive revenue and optimize resources.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in data science/machine learning
  • 8+ years' managerial experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Related Field
  • Expert level knowledge of applied regression techniques including, but not limited to: Linear, Logistic, Mixed models, Time Series, General Linear Models & Simultaneous Equations. You also have experience in the use of Neural Network models for sales forecasting and GAN models.
  • Expertise in statistical data analysis and mathematical methodologies for unsupervised & supervised learning algorithms. Expertise in a wide variety of techniques such as neural nets, deep neural nets, boosted trees, support vector machines. Algorithm development in graph mining and social network analysis is a plus.
  • Experience in one or more of pharmaceutical industry key therapeutic areas (Oncology, Primary Care, Specialty Care/Rare Diseases, etc.). You are familiar with analytics required in marketing and sales organization for launches, in-line products, and LoE. You are also familiar with field force analytics and omnichannel strategy and the analytics required therein. Any global experience is a plus.
  • Expert level knowledge of relational databases, including SQL, and large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and or working in Snowflake/Databricks. Experience in best practices in data science delivery (version control, code review, production grade solutioning, etc.)
  • Conceive and coach the design of end-to-end scripted analytics solutions using Python, Scala, Java, or R as well as modern analytical systems in Spark + Hadoop/Databricks/Snowflake.
  • Confirmed collaboration, executive communication and storytelling skills with ability to adapt and connect across a variety of audiences. This includes strong writing, and data visualization skills with the ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to senior executives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced degree in Applied Econometrics, Statistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $205,400.00 to $342,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
