What You Will Achieve
The Protein and Bioanalytical Sciences (PBS) team is focused on creating and delivering novel research test articles for preclinical evaluation. As an Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations, and you'll find that everything we do is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. This position is responsible for managing critical reagent inventories, preparing and delivering various research compounds (such as Antibody Drug Conjugations (ADCs) and toxic linker payloads), overseeing the care and maintenance of HPLCs and other analytical instruments, and periodically performing antibody conjugations. This person will play a critical role in supporting our team and in communicating reagent availability to our scientists throughout Pfizer Oncology Research. Your strong foundation in quality scientific practices will help the team in meeting critical deadlines and exceeding milestones. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge. This role is expected to be on-site in the lab during typical work hours, usually between 8 am - 6 pm.
Additional Information:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $54,700.00 to $91,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary. How You Will Achieve It
- Preparation of critical reagents and formulations.
- Regular care and maintenance of equipment, including HPLC, LC/MS, FPLC, and spectroscopy instrumentation.
- Troubleshooting and repairing of HPLC, LC/MS, and FPLC systems.
- Regular maintenance and auditing of robust inventories.
- Precise aliquoting and delivery of ADC doses.
- Timely recording of experimental details in ELN (electronic lab notebook).
- Ordering/receiving new reagents and equipment for general laboratory use.
- Managing large reagent inventories with Freezerworks software.
- Performing regular audits of multiple reagent inventories.
- Routinely generating reports and reviewing reports with manager, project leads and other research associates.
- Evaluating new lab efficiencies.
- Regular collaboration with team members and strong communication skills.
- Routine laboratory cleaning.
- Occasionally performing antibody reductions and conjugations.
- Routinely analyzing ADC properties using analytical instruments (such as HPLC and MS) or assays (such as free drug, endotoxin, DC assay, etc).
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, chemistry, or related field with 0-2 years relevant experience, or equivalent.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to perform routine tasks independently and commitment to high quality analysis and documentation.
- Willingness to work with potent cytotoxic compounds and following safety protocols.
- Laboratory experience in a relevant field of science.
- Good computer skills including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software.
N ice-to-Have
- Hands-on laboratory experience (excluding college coursework).
- Protein and/or antibody handling experience.
- Previous experience with antibody or protein conjugations.
- Practical knowledge of analytical HPLC chromatography of proteins and UV spectroscopy.
- Hands-on experience of HPLC system maintenance and repairing is preferred.
- Experience working with protein liquid chromatography or spectroscopy instrumentation.
- Knowledge of protein stability and formulation.
- Prior experience working with electronic lab notebooks and/or LIMS systems.
