ROLE SUMMARY

At Pfizer we deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. In La Jolla, we are dedicated to the development of oncology agents that disrupt cancer biology or redirect the immune system against cancer cells. The Chemoproteomics Team plays a vital role in this mission through enabling the discovery and molecular understanding of small-molecule therapeutics. We are seeking a researcher with general cell and chemical biology laboratory experience.

As a Sr. Associate Scientist in Chemoproteomics, your research will drive a deeper understanding of tumor biology by assessing target engagement, off-target profiling, protein interactomes, and investigation of drug mechanisms of action and resistance pathways. The successful candidate will participate on project teams, providing insight and technical expertise required for project progression. The individual will also work closely with the Medicinal Chemistry and Oncology Biology groups to innovate and develop the next-generation of therapies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare samples for chemical biology and proteomic studies
  • Develop and optimize protocols. Analyze and summarize results from western blot and mass spectrometry studies.
  • Participate on multi-disciplinary project teams, including developing experimental plans and communication of results
  • Learn and apply state-of-the-art chemical biology technologies for target engagement and interactome mapping.
  • Advance expertise and group technologies through participation in working groups, conferences, and training courses


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. degree with 2+ years' research experience in the fields of biology, biochemistry, or similar.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with gel electrophoresis, western blotting WES, plate-based assays, IP, and/or protein quantification.
  • Excellent record keeping and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced matrix-team environment.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • M.S. degree with 2+ years' research experience
  • Prior experience with chemical biology or proteomics approaches (e.g. click reactions, photoprobes, small-molecule interactomes, IP mass spectrometry, global proteomic profiling)
  • Contributions on scientific publications
  • Familiarity with drug discovery and oncology

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
