Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Light-Based Antimicrobial Therapy

The Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the area of light-based therapy for infectious diseases. This position will be appointed through Harvard Medical School (HMS) at the rank of postdoctoral fellow and will offer access to a wide range of training opportunities available via both MGH and HMS. The position is fully funded by the NIH and is available for a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities: The fellow will focus on implementing and validating novel light-based antimicrobial approaches and investigating their mechanism of action. Candidates with a strong background and hands-on experience in microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, or infectious diseases (bacterial infections, fungal/mold infections, and biofilms) are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in animal models of infectious diseases is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or DVM) in microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial infection, fungal (mold) infection, biofilm, or related field.
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with collaborators.
  • Creativity is highly desirable.

Salary: The salary is commensurate with experience.
