The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist for the lab of George Hasko, MD, PhD. The lab is focused on the regulation of the host’s response to injury by purinergic receptors including ATP and adenosine receptors. The experiments conducted will use in vivo models of injury and inflammation, such as hemorrhagic shock and liver ischemia. An ideal applicant must have solid experience with small animal surgery and tissue processing for biochemical assays. This includes preparation of mRNA and protein lysates from tissues and cells, performance of real-time PCR, and Western blotting.

The selectee will also assist with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians, and laboratory assistants as required. In addition, the selectee will submit purchase recommendations of equipment and supplies to his/her supervisor. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Qualified applicants must be recent recipients of a doctorate (PhD, MD, or both) awarded within the past three years, no exception. The University offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position falls under a collective bargaining agreement.

Hiring Salary Range: $70,000–$75,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
