Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of lung cancer researcher.

The Rush Lung Center in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology is seeking an investigator with an interest in translational research in the field of lung cancer. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D or other advanced degree, with demonstrated success in obtaining NIH (or equivalent) funding, track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and a productive publication record. Candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level are encouraged to apply. The ability to bring members from the candidate’s current laboratory will be entertained. Primary responsibilities include leading and executing collaborative research projects focusing on lung cancer, sustaining an extramurally-supported research program, supervising and providing guidance and mentorship to trainees and other researchers within the laboratory, and designing and directing experiments.

The Rush Lung Center is a collaborative effort that has brought together pulmonology, thoracic surgery, oncology, and otolaryngology to provide the highest-level clinical care for lung diseases in Chicago. The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology currently has five principal investigators who focus on cancer, including one faculty member with a focus on identifying genomic, proteomic, and radiomic biomarkers of lung cancer. Our biorepository contains patient specimens (serum, plasma, and frozen tissue) from over 4000 thoracic surgical encounters. In addition, we currently hold DNA and RNA sequencing data for nearly 2000 lung cancer patients, with annotated clinical follow up. Finally, a motivated team of Rush clinicians is excited to partner with an established translational researcher to ask original questions and apply these findings in the clinical setting.
