ROLE SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for organizing and delivering study support needed on a daily basis as defined by Comparative Medicine (CM) Management and research partners. To provide direct technical support to partners in Research and Development in the delivery of projects by the completion of experiments, procedures, protocols or studies involving animal models. Work with other colleagues in the efficient conduct of techniques and therefore contribute significantly to the advancement of 3Rs ( Reduction, Refinement, Replacement) . Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable local and/or global regulatory standards. All duties require minimal supervision.
Working Relationships
Daily interactions will primarily be with those CM and research partner colleagues who conduct technical procedures to support project teams and with the key points of contact for in vivo work in the project teams. Significant liaison will be with the Manager, research partner key point of contacts and their team of colleagues conducting technical support to ensure final delivery on a daily basis. Routine advice may be sought from other colleagues experienced in technical procedures as well as the veterinary staff so 3Rs aspects may be optimized. Routine interaction will be required with CM colleagues who organize training for CM and other Research colleagues in technical procedures. There may be occasional interaction with CM colleagues globally to ensure alignment in the provision of support.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the project teams in both Research and Development by performing technical procedures in the conduct of experiments and protocols and by collecting, recording and exporting data in the delivery of studies.
- Perform technical procedures such as dosing, blood or tissue sample collection on laboratory animal rodent species. Also, provide surgical support to include pre, intra, and post-operative care, anesthetic monitoring, and associated documentation.
- Set a workplace standard through leading by example, showing mastery of all SOP's, regulatory guidelines and Pfizer policies. Exemplify work-place standards, positive habits and behaviors to co-workers. Maintain inspection readiness of records and facilities at all times.
- Interact with the key in vivo contacts in project teams to understand their needs, engaging them in a flexible and constructive manner.
- Contribute to operational excellence by the collation of metrics showing the efficient delivery of support across projects teams, including alignment with colleagues in WCM in the delivery of technical support and its associated metrics when required.
- Assists in the training of colleagues in CM and other Research lines in the efficient and refined conduct of technical procedures and therefore contribute significantly to the 3Rs.
- Assists with the scheduling and approving of requests for research support.
- Assists the veterinary staff in identifying and treating of colony animals. This may include identifying adverse outcomes in the course of experimental support or surgery, initiating health records, and performing health checks of colony rooms as requested.
- Maintains appropriate records in compliance with regulatory and department.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in a related field is required.
- Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of regulations related to the use of animals in research.
- Ability to demonstrate level of technical skills and abilities.
- All colleagues should have functional knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, calendar management and Internet Explorer. Colleagues should be able to use online systems such as time tracking and document management (e.g. SharePoint, Activity Tracker)
- Knowledge and use of other systems based upon job function may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS/BA preferred.
- AALAS certification preferred.
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.
