Position description
Faculty Position at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego - Paleomagnetism/Marine Geophysics
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego invites applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek to attract and retain outstanding, diverse faculty members who integrate observations and methodologies from paleomagnetism/marine geophysics to address research questions in the Earth and planetary sciences. We have a particular interest in strengthening our current expertise in using observations and quantitative analyses to advance the fields of paleomagnetism, marine geodesy, or marine electromagnetism. We encourage candidates whose research will build on existing world class laboratory facilities and marine and sea-going strengths at Scripps, advancing a diverse and collaborative research environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program. They will be required to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Earth science at UC San Diego and establish inclusive teaching practices. Supervision and mentoring of diverse graduate students and service to the department, university, and broader discipline will be expected in this role.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in paleomagnetism/marine geophysics or a related field at time of application.
